Job Title:    High School Counselor
Reports to: High School Principal
Salary:       $44,877 – $57,033
Work year: 186 days

Job Summary:
We are looking for a dedicated, enthusiast High School Counsel to join our team of highly dedicated teachers and support staff in providing the best educational experience for our students.

Qualifications:

  • MA degree and a Colorado School Counselor License or be able to obtain one.
  • Experience working with children in an education setting is preferable.
  • Experience in counseling individuals, groups and parents.
  • Ability to create and maintain a safe and effective learning environment for students.
  • Strong commitment to and belief in the vision of school
  • Ability to work in a collaborative manner with students, staff, parents and community.
  • Demonstrated skill in working with culturally a diverse population is desired.
  • Strong organization skills.
  • Excellent oral and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with administration and staff.

Essential Functions:

  • Coordinates comprehensive counseling plan with principal
  • Creates a positive atmosphere when working with children.
  • Consult with parents, teachers and specialists related to students’ school adjustment and performance.
  • Work with other counselors in development and implementation of school guidance program.
  • Lead professional development in guidance/social skills areas.
  • Work as a member of an inter-disciplinary team, and coordinate counseling services within the building.
  • Consult and counsel with parents, individually and in groups, to provide information and facilitating understanding.
  • Coordinate PBIS and conduct training sessions for teachers.
  • Act as School Assessment Coordinator and collaborate with the DAC.
  • Serve as the 504 Coordinator
  • Participate in county wide collaboration with other agencies, including referrals and follow-up.
  • Develop a counseling curriculum and lesson plans for classroom instruction.
  • Develop counseling programs in line with the district vision and strategic plan.
  • Communicate progress work with parents to ensure follow-up occurs.
  • Plan and coordinate crisis intervention program with the administration.
  • Takes responsibility for continued development as a professional.
  • Attends meetings, conferences, and in-services as required
  • Keep accurate, confidential, and up to date student records.
  • Actively engage in MTSS and other intervention programs
  • Performs extra duties as required, including occasional supervision.
  • Be flexible and works with all administration, directors and staff.
  • Work in a positive manner with all staff, students, vendors and the public.
  • Serve on committees, such as MTSS, interview, DAC, SAC, etc.
  • Follows all school district policies in the performance of your duties.
  • Use professional discretion related to supervision and use of strict confidentiality practices.
